The
Vineyard Values
We value worship.
We desire Spirit-led worship in a style that is
not only intimate, but dynamic, relevant to our culture, and life-changing.
Our worship of Jesus is always a response to who
he is, or rather, how we perceive him to be. If he is somewhat small in our
hearts and minds our response will remain minimal, mechanical and miserly. But
as we see Him more and more for who he really is, realizing what he has done
for us, and continues to do for us, then pouring out our lives and resources
will be our joyful response and our hearts desire too.
It really is ALL ABOUT JESUS. Many of us are
discovering as we learn to turn our eyes toward the one who is life, that He
is greater and bigger and kinder and stronger and more merciful and purer and
much more wonderful and holy than we could ever have dreamed of.
We value the truth of the Bible.
We always prefer God’s revelation to man’s
wisdom.
We value the people who Jesus loves.
The lost, the hurt, the distressed, the
lonely…we all matter to God. For God so loved the world…
We value simplicity.
Life is complicated enough. Our messages are
gospel focused, simple and easy to understand.
We value prayer.
God is the Creator and He say to ask Him for
whatever we need to live for Him.
We value small groups.
Jesus said: "Where two or three come
together in my name, there I am with them."
We value the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
We depend on the presence and gifts of the Holy
Spirit to accomplish His purposes.
We value the Lord’s strength over our own.
Many things are possible with human effort, but
with God all things are possible.
We value the small things.
Has anything ever started big? Small deeds of
kindness will change people’s hearts.
We value openhandedness.
Freely received, freely given. Scarcity is the
motivation of the world. Abundance is the motivation of the Kingdom of God.
We value the ministry of every Christian.
Every Christian is called to ministry. We see
this as a "get to" not a "got to".
What We Believe
About God
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He
has eternally existed in three personalities: the Father, the Son and the Holy
Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. (Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22;
Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; II Corinthians 13:14)
About Man
Man is made in the spiritual image of God, to be
like Him in character. He is the supreme object of God's creation. Although
man has tremendous potential for good, he is marred by an attitude of
disobedience toward God called sin. This attitude separates man from God.
(Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1,2)
About Eternity
Man was created to exist forever. He will either
exist eternally separated from God by sin, or in union with God through
forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be
eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of
eternal existence. (John 3:16; John 2:25; John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23;
Revelation 20:15; Matthew 1:8; Matthew 2:44,46)
About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal
with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the
perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from
the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He
ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of
Kings, and Lord of Lords. (Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30;
Hebrews 4:14,15; 1 Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; I Timothy
6:14,15; Titus 2:13)
About Salvation
Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can
never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting
in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin's
penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his
life by faith. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5;
Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1)
About Grace
Because God gives man eternal life through Jesus
Christ, the believer is secure in the salvation for eternity. Salvation is
maintained by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the
Christian. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives this security.
(John 10:29; II Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25; 10:10,14; I Peter 1:3-5)
About the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the
Son as God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for
Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation.
He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual
truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christian seeks to live under
His control daily. (II Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; I
Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:1)
About the Bible
The Bible is God's word to all men. It was
written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit.
It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it
is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. (II Timothy
3:16; II Peter 1:20,21; II Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160, 12:6; Proverbs
30:5)
We Are...
free
from religion
our
lives are not defined by what we can't do, but by what we can
for example, our "reel 2 real Jesus" community group goes to movies
and evaluates them based on our relationship with Christ and our understanding
of Scripture.
free to
worship freely
standing,
sitting, dancing, kneeling, as the Spirit leads
because God is alive, every worship service should be a unique encounter with
Him. We encourage people to express that encounter with any and all forms of
biblical worship.
free to
be who we were created to be
each
of us have unique gifts and talents
not everyone is equipped to be a teacher or a pastor. some people are
athletes, computer techs, housewives, etc. our goal is to help you move in
your gifting and passion.
free to
celebrate our diversity
learning
to enjoy the blessing of our differences
God is best reflected when people of different backgrounds join together. that
is why we seek to be a multi-cultural & multi-ethnic church.
free
from too many meetings
taking
the time to impact our families & communities
Jesus spent most of His time outside the temple and the synagogue, influencing
those around Him. we should do the same.
free to
express all gifts
because
God is not predictable, neither is our worship service
we want people to encounter the power of God. but that can only happen when
each person is sharing the gifts God has given them.
free to
be free indeed
knowing
the truth is what truly sets us free
and serving Christ is true freedom.
free to
serve
Christ
said it, we believe it
it truly is more blessed to give than to receive. and we're not talking just
about finances. we also give our time and talents to help advance the kingdom
of God.
